We are excited to offer a CORE data and social marketing presentation from Anne Dorwaldt! Anne Dorwaldt, MA, is the Assistant Director of Research Programs at the UVM Office of Health Promotion Research. She also has 25 years experience directing research projects focused on health behavior change, many of which have used mass media and other social marketing strategies as the main piece of their intervention. She has been involved in 3 major public health studies that used media as the main approach/intervention. She also served as the UVM site evaluator for Harvard School of Public Health's College Alchohol Study which studied environmental approaches to reducing college high risk drinking. Anne also serves as a media consultant to the Vermont Department of Health's Strategic Prevention Framework grant, which supports alcohol and marijuana prevention interventions for 12-25 year olds across Vermont. Following Anne's presentation, she will be available to offer coaching with individual colleges, to assist with interpreting CORE data and devloping social marketing campaigns. We will also offer a 'Meet Your Coalition' Luncheon, offering colleges an opportunity to become acquanted with their local coalition(s), and build partnerships. We also have 3 CEU's pending, for those who are eligible. Members, let's hear from you about interest in attending, usefullness of this format, and ability to attend. Thanks!

Excellent idea!Posted By: Mariah (02/08/2010 8:11pm)Sounds like a good meeting. Anne has a wealth of knowledge and is very easy to learn from. I also think it would be interesting at some point to bring in someone who could talk about creating strong campus policies regarding substance use/abuse and how colleges can work collaboratively on this effort. |

Electronic CommunicationPosted By: Sarah Munro (02/09/2010 7:57am)Hi all, This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and information and connect. My experience is that many people will not respond to electronic communication like this so calling people is essential for this kind of coordination. Where will this be held? And at what time? |

Re: Electronic CommunicationPosted By: Rita Johnson (02/09/2010 11:10am)Sarah, I agree with you regarding electronic communication. We are working on promoting this form of communication, and having an open forum like this for members to connect. As soon as the meeting format is confirmed, I will be calling reps from colleges and coalitions to inform them of meeting format, and gauge interest. I have confirmed a meeting space at Vermont Technical College. We usually hold meetings from 9-12; we may offer lunch as well. I will keep you up to date. Thanks! |
